Fresh muffins cooling on a kitchen table.

A good muffin recipe is less about baking perfection and more about having something ready to offer.

Use one bowl, ripe fruit, a warm spice, and a topping that makes the kitchen smell like someone cared. Blueberries and lemon work. Banana and cinnamon work. Apple and oats work when the house needs something cozy.

Make a double batch when you can. Freeze half, send a few with a neighbor, or tuck one into a lunchbox before the morning gets loud.
